D-FY-IT (Drug Free Youth In Texas) is the most popular organization in SHS, with over 100 members.
This is a state and local organization that encourages youth not to use drugs. Prospective members must submit to a drug test and accept the possibility of random testing through the year. Once a member, students are rewarded through being able to use membership cards for discounts in participating locations. The organization also offers leadership and educational training to the students at state and regional meetings.

FCCLA, (Family, Community, Career Leaders of America) formally FHA, is an active club at SHS. With community service at the nursing home once a weekend every month, the club does an excellent job at building leadership and family skills.
This a very fun and exciting club to be in. In this club, members learn interesting skills such as wood and metal working. The IT club participates in a number of fundraisers in which they raise money to enter their projects in Regional Competitions that take place in Waco and Odessa.
The National Honor Society promotes appropriate recognition for students who reflect exemplarily accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, and service.
The SHS chapter of NHS has been named Visio Vertias Valor. Induction of new members takes place in the early spring. Members must maintain a 90 average, perform six hours of community service every year, and participate in a sanctioned academic or vocational contest.
Potential members (students who have a 90 average) are invited to show their interest in becoming a member by filling out an Activity Information Form and writing an essay. The SHS Faculty Council, who approves students for membership, review the forms and essays. A student must be a sophomore to be eligible for membership.
Texas Association Future Educators (TAFE) is a club for students who plan to be a teacher. As a member, students learn and practice to be a teacher, meet new friends, observe teachers, help others and do community service hours. Also TAFE members are involved in events like fundraising, visiting elementary school and going on field trips.
