October 21-25, 2024, is National School Bus Safety Week!
As we recognize this important week, here’s a key safety reminder: In Texas, when a school bus extends its stop sign, drivers must come to a complete stop and remain stopped until the bus has moved, the flashing lights are no longer active, or the bus driver signals that it’s safe to proceed.
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) urges all drivers to slow down and stay vigilant in school zones and around school buses in their communities.
Drive safely!

Tonight there is a Pumpkin Trail at the 1884 Plaza. If you have a pumpkin to enter from the library competition, please bring. For more information, please call 466-5669.

Tattoos for football!

Wednesday is a 1:00 dismissal . Buses will run then and students need to be picked up at 1:00. The elementary will be holding parent conferences and the book fair will be open from 1-5:00 p.m.

Parents and/or Guardians,
Please remember the following car drop off/pick up procedures as we have had some issues the last few weeks.
Pull all the way to the end of the lane for drop off, please do not stop in the middle of the lane as this causes disruption in our traffic flow.
There is only ONE line for drop off, please do not pull around other cars in the line unless directed to do so by staff members. Driving around cars that still have students exiting poses a risk to our students.
The speed limit for the school zone on Gray St., Broadway St., and College St. is only 10 MPH. It is also a cell phone free zone, this is a state law. Please do not text or use your phone in our school zone. Texas is also a hand-free device state so you are not allowed to hold your phone while on speaker phone. We are trying to minimize all distractions for the safety of our students.
For pickup, the right lane is Elementary School pick-up only until 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday and until 3:00 pm on Friday. The left lane is reserved for Middle School pick up. If you need to pick up elementary and middle school, you will be asked to circle back around and get in the left lane (middle school lane) after you get your elementary child.
Remember, you must have a placard to pick up an elementary student in the car pick up line.
Please do not block our crosswalk for drop off or pickup, and be diligent to follow all of the crossing guard’s directions.
Thank you for your help in keeping our students safe!

Tomorrow is our last day of homecoming week and we will attend the pep rally as a school.. Please help us by letting your child stay with us, riding the bus to and from the high school. Remember that tomorrow's dress up day is Buff gear. Elementary students are not allowed to wear mums or garters to school, save them for the game. Speaking of the game, students must be accompanied by a parent and remain with a parent at all times. Students are not allowed to run around under the stands or on the cement area between the stands and the concession stand. Also, students must remain with their parents in the stands and are not allowed to stand in the walkways/aisle/or on the railing. We expect a large crowd and we want to be respectful to all fans there to watch the game. Tickets are sold at the gate - cash only.

If you would like to come learn some math activities/games you could do with your child at home, please join us next week for our lunch and learn. We will spend the first 15 minutes with just parents, and then we will have your student come join you to play the games you learn. We hope to see you there.
